Those unfamliar with the stylings of Rustie will be in for an amazing surprise when they go to Webster Hall this Friday 7.25, where the Scottish producer will be taking to the decks alongside big-time Brooklyn Bass producer AC Slater and Webster Hall staples Alex English & Rekless. Having long been considered one of the standouts in an increasingly homogeneous “EDM” landscape, his fluid production style invokes as much movement on the dance floor as it does sonically. Rustie’s 2011 release Glass Swords on Warp Records (also home to Hudson Project) received high praise from Pitchfork and Adidas ad placements and he’s done collaborations with the likes of Pusha T and AlunaGeorge. Check out this video of him mixing live on vinyl at The Boiler Room in 2012 if you want an idea of what you’re in for.
AC Slater has been a staple of sweaty New York clubs for the last 10 years and as the head honcho of the Trouble & Bass and founder of Party Like Us Records, he has crafted a dark and gritty world all his own. Opening for Rustie, he’s absolutely have the crowd ready to go by the time his set is done with favorites like his song Sidewinder, and remixes of David Heartbreak and Motez.
Be sure to grab your tickets here so that you don’t miss out on the craziness and be sure to keep an eye out for Ryan running round Webster Hall to capture the night!
